Tracking a rental delivery fleet, live

The operation

A vehicle rental operator leases motorbikes and light vehicles to delivery agents across Qatar. The vehicles spend the day on the road in someone else's hands - exactly where they're hardest to see and easiest to neglect.

The problem

Once a bike or van left the depot, it was effectively invisible. There was no reliable way to know where a vehicle was, how fast it was being driven, or how far it had travelled that day - and the first sign of a mechanical problem was usually a vehicle that didn't come back. Disputes over usage, idle time, and wear all came down to one person's word against another's.

What we deployed

Integrated

The operator's existing rental and dispatch records, so every vehicle on the map reconciles against who has it and what it's meant to be doing.

Deployed

Live vehicle tracking - real-time location, speed, and distance for every vehicle, on one fleet view - plus trip history and predictive maintenance running on the same data.

Installed

A GPS tracking unit on every vehicle, plus OBD telemetry reading fuel level and engine temperature on the vehicles that warrant the deeper analytics.

What changed

Every motorbike and vehicle now sits on a live map. Idle time, speeding, and out-of-zone movement are flagged the moment they happen, so the operator can act on usage and driver behaviour instead of arguing about it after the fact. Distance and trip data make billing and utilisation defensible.

Vehicle tracking first - predictive maintenance on the same feed

Because the trackers also read engine telemetry, the same data that shows where a vehicle is also tells us how it's holding up. That feed runs straight into Bedrock's predictive-maintenance models, so wear patterns surface before they become roadside breakdowns. Tracking is the headline; maintenance foresight comes free on the same signal.

Where they are now

The fleet is live and the operator is rolling trackers onto new vehicles as they're added. The next phase widens the predictive-maintenance coverage across the OBD-equipped vehicles.

This engagement runs on Quoriam Bedrock - asset and fleet monitoring with predictive maintenance built in. For the mirror engagement, where maintenance leads and tracking supports, see the predictive-maintenance case study.
